The E-Body Dodge Challenger was a late but popular pony car response to the Ford Mustang and the Chevy Camaro that came with a wide variety of trim and option packages, including virtually every engine in the Mopar lineup. Challengers built between 1970 and 1974 represent an important slice of American automotive history, so for our Mopar faithful, we manufacture front disc brake conversion kits and rear disc brake conversion kits for vehicles manufactured from 1970-1974.
Options For a 1970 Challenger
We recently received a customer note asking about options for a 1970 Challenger, so we figured we should share our response with all of you Mopar fans out there. We manufacture three different disc brake conversion kits designed specifically a 1970 Dodge Challenger. Each kit comes as a bolt-on solution, so you won’t need to make modifications during installation, and we have options for every budget and driving style.
The Legend Series front disc brake conversion kit for the 1970 Challenger is easy on your wallet and packs plenty of stopping power. In the Legend Series, we offer a manual disc brake conversion kit (#DB1302M) for $979.00, as well as a power disc brake conversion kit for original manual brakes (#DB1302P) and a power disc brake conversion kit for original power brakes (#DB1304P) which both list for $1,079.00. With the Legend Series, you’ll get a complete brake system that features OEM style cast-iron calipers and vented 11” rotors. If you are looking for rear brakes as well, consider our rear disc brake conversion kit (#DB1300BR).
Challenger owners looking to dress up 15” wheel packages with more efficient braking should consider our Rallye Series.
The first of our two options is 1970 Challenger manual front disc brake conversion kit (#DB2332M) which retails for $1279.00.
We also offer a power front disc brake conversion kit (# DB2356P for OE Manual brakes or #DB2357P for OE Power brakes) available for $1,429.00.
This system will convert original drum brakes to disc brakes using a high quality 4-piston billet aluminum caliper and mounting brackets along with the added benefits of slotted and drilled rotors. Upgrading to the Rallye Series gives a distinct, modern performance look and feel that offers increased performance over the Legend Series but still allows use of your stock 15” wheels.
If you are seeking the ultimate in looks and performance from Master Power for your 70 Dodge Challenger, be sure to check out our Pro Driver Series for 17” and larger wheels.
The 1970 Challenger Pro Driver Series Front Disc Brake Conversion Kit is available as a Manual system (#DB43021M) for $1845.00 along with a Power system as well (#DB43022P for OE Manual brakes or #DB43023P for OE Power brakes) for $1995.00.
These systems are designed to work on OE Disc Brake Spindles and sport larger, 4-piston billet aluminum calipers along with 13” cross-drilled and slotted rotors, and best of all, the brackets and hubs are machined T-6061 billet aluminum for increased strength and durability needed for demanding driving conditions.
For owners seeking the ultimate in front and rear braking system performance, check out our Pro Driver Rear Disc Brake Conversion Kit (#DB4320BR) as well for your Challenger’s Dana 60 or 8 ¾” bolt rear axle.
If you’ve been thinking about converting your Dodge Challenger, why settle for an aftermarket system that isn’t specifically designed for your car? Upgrading to a new, model specific front or rear disc brake system is an easy, affordable, modification that will enhance the safety, performance, and value of your Challenger.
