An Unusual Birthday Party for the Ford Mustang

Posted by toby on Apr 17, 2014 10:37:22 AM

50th birthday parties are supposed to be cool, but the recent celebration for the Ford Mustang may just take the cake. To appreciate this story fully, we need to start with a little history lesson.  Back in October of 1965, Ford was looking for a way to build buzz and create excitement around their new Mustang convertible. Some clever marketing guys and wicked-smart engineers hatched a plan to chop up a Mustang into pieces and reassemble the car on the observation deck of one of the world’s most iconic buildings—the Empire State Building. The historic publicity photo shoot was such a success that the folks at Ford decided to try again this spring to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Mustang.  Wondering how a Mustang ends up on the 86th floor observatory of the Empire State Building?  Watch this video and you’ll learn how…..

Here's another clip that you may enjoy....turns out the Ford guys weren't the only ones thinking about placing convertibles in dramatic settings for PR purposes.....

We may not be able to help you get your classic Ford Mustang on top of the Empire State Building, but if you are looking for new brakes, give us a call!
